Happy Birthday Grandma and Carter!
Today is my Mom's and Carter's birthday!! I dressed RJ in his Yankee gear for mom. They wouldn't pose together so I couldn't get one happy birthday picture. We are headed to a party at the Vedrani's this afternoon.

York Wild Kingdom
This is Jessica (or as my son calls me "Doc Rivers") back for a guest appearance. We went to York Wild Kingdom this morning. I have been busy with all of the end of the year crap and Joe has been busy with baseball, so we decided to take the kids somewhere fun. My battery on my camera died after the whole duck photo shoot, but it was the highlight of the trip.

I know this picture is blurry, but RJ was very cute flapping his arms like the ducks.

Abby and Ryan have both learned how to say "CHHEEESSSE" when the camera is on them. That is what Abby is doing here.
Ryan talks to the duck. Soooooooo cute.
Ryan (who hardly ever eats) loved the food there. He ate 1+ hotdogs and a big plate of popcorn. He was very excited.
It was cool and drizzly, but Joe and I both agree that we prefer that to hot and humid.

The Chickens Are Back
No matter where we hide the old halloween costumes, those little rascals always seem to find them. And every time they find them they're more excited than the last time they put them on. Last Halloween they were just waddling around and clucking away. Now, after months of fine tuning the routine, they've added scampering around on all fours and pecking at the floor. (By the way, I know that chickens don't walk on four legs. You try explaining that to these two monkeys).

Turn Your Back on a Three Year Old for Five Minutes...
... and this is what happens.

Jess had a nice big vase filled to the top with sand art on the kitchen counter. Ryan somehow climbed up onto the counter and dumped it. All of it. All over the counter, the kitchen, and the living room. Then to top it off he grabbed the detergent off the sink and mixed it all together. I'm still not sure how he got on the counter. I guess he's finally putting all those long hours of training on the jungle gym to good use. Yes, that's the TV remote. And no, it doesn't work anymore.
Abby's New Room
We swapped Abby's stuff out of the smaller nursery and into the bigger bedroom which used to be the office. As you can see by the look on her face, she was VERY excited about it. She thinks she's hot stuff now that she has a big girl bed. We actually tried her in the big girl bed the first couple of nights in her new room, but it didn't go very well, so she's back in her crib for now. That's okay, we're in no rush.

Now He Looks Official
We let Ryan pick out his own clothes every now and then. We don't let him choose all the time because the only outfit he ever asks for is his Celtics uniform, and we don't pay the maid enough to do laundry every day. We were out shopping for stuff for Abby's new room and we couldn't resist the headband/wristband combo to complete the look.

Joe: Good night, Ryan
Look, I realize that he's wearing the uniform in the majority of my blog entries, but what can I say, the kid is just obsessed right now. Example:
Joe: Good night, Ryan
Ryan: I'm not Ryan, I'm Paul Pierce!!
Joe: Good night Paul Pierce. Give Daddy a kiss.
Ryan: You're not Daddy, you're KG!!
Storyland
A couple weeks back we went up north to Storyland for a few days. Storyland is a theme park geared towards little kids, and Ryan and Abby had a ball. The first two pictures were taken by a huge tree-house-jungle-gym-type thingy where we spent the majority of our time. We took the last picture when we were on the ferris wheel. That one is obviously our favorite because everyone knows how tough it is to get a 3-year old and a 1-year old to pose together for a picture!

Go Celtics!
Ryan is some kind of excited for the NBA Finals! For those of you who are loyal readers of this blog, you know he's been on a major basketball kick for the last few months. I make sure to always keep a game saved on TiVo for him and he watches them all the time. Lately he's been obsessed with the player introductions. He turns out all the lights like they do during the intros at the Garden and dances around and imitates all of the high fives and chest bumps. Cracks me up every time.

As a father, this is a much better option than sitting through Barney over and over. Although Abby disagrees. Judging from the look on her face, I think she's had it with the Celtics' PA announcer.

Baseball Time
I'm going to be a coach on my old American Legion team this year, so I dug out all my old Post 48 gear to see if I could get away with wearing any of it. No luck. 1992 was a long time ago. Either it doesn't fit, it's sadly outdated, or both. RJ and Abby enjoyed trying it all on, though.

Then they put on their Sox hats and ran around the house while I put my old stuff back in the moth balls.

Speaking of baseball, Ryan got a new baseball glove from his Uncle Gary for his birthday, and he loves playing catch! He's learning fast. Every time I miss one of his throws he yells at me to "use two hands!"
